John Saylor, an arborist for the Lexington Fayette County Government, plans to fundraise more than $3,500 to spend a week cycling 585 miles through Oregon – all in support of tree research, according to a press release .

The event, scheduled for Aug. 5 – 11, is the STIHL des Trees, and over the past 20 years it has become America’s largest fundraiser for tree research, raising more than $5 million to benefit the Tree Research and Education Endowment (TREE) Fund.

“I look forward to riding in the STIHL Tour des Trees each year,” Saylor said. “It gives me a great opportunity to support tree research and give back to the profession that has provided for me, my family and my community over my career.”
