Beginning Sept. 10, visitors to city offices who park in the Annex Garage, the Transit Center Garage, the Courthouse Garage or the Victorian Square Garage will receive a 50 percent discount on parking rates, said Gary Means, executive director of the Lexington Parking Authority.
Currently, visitors to city offices who park in the garages receive a validation stamp that allows them to exit the garages free of charge. The Parking Authority, a public-private organization, estimates it validates $100,000 in free parking a year.
The Parking Authority plans to use the additional funds to make much needed garage repairs and upgrades. The Authority now owns three of the former city garages and manages the fourth (the Courthouse Garage).
