The first leg of the 2013 Bluegrass Trifecta Race Series begins Saturday, March 23, with the Southern Middle Lightning Strike 5K.
The Bluegrass Trifecta Race Series was formed in 2011 as a joint effort between three Fayette County Public Schools, Southern Middle, Bryan Station High School and Sandersville Elementary, to promote healthy, active lives.
The Southern Middle 5K was started in 2011 to help raise money for a walking track. The race continues this year, with the focus of the money raised still on the health of the students, staff and families, but also to help the clubs and athletic teams that offer opportunities to the students.
