A reception honoring the artist will be held on Friday, May 10, on the 5th floor executive area of the bank, located at 300 West Vine Street in Lexington from 4:30 until 6:00 p.m. General public is welcomed to attend. The art may also be viewed during normal business hours Monday thru Friday.  The collection is displayed on floors 2 and 3.       May 17 – May 31, 2013 Opening reception at 6pm on Friday, May 17th Free admission from 6pm to 8pm $5.00 admission after 8pm Land of Tomorrow presents Clusterflock, a group exhibition curated by Nathaniel Hendrickson, featuring the work of Mike Bale, Mark Barczak, Peter Golemboski, Nathaniel Hendrickson, Shohei Katayama, Nick Layman, Douglas Lucas, JR McCleney, Kevin Melzer, Wesley Miller, Yoko Molotov, Sara Pitt, Angela Ress, Philip Rodriguez, Anna Lee Roeder, and Aaron West, with performances from Yoko Molotov, Lady Pyramid and Black Birds of Paradise. The exhibit will open with a reception on Friday, May 17th at 6pm and remain on display until May 31st.     4. Cardinal Hill Plant Sale

      Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital and the Fayette County Extension Master Gardener Association will partner to hold a plant sale in support of the hospital’s therapeutic gardening program. This unique program offers Cardinal Hill’s medical staff and their patients a unique setting for working toward their their therapeutic goals. The sale, which is open to the public, will be held in the Grow Again Garden on Cardinal Hill’s grounds and will feature annuals, perennials, herbs and Kentucky native plants from $1 to $4.

      The Ann Tower Gallery is pleased to present fifteen new large-scaled photographs in “Nori Hall: Waterscapes.”  The exhibition will open with a Gallery Hop reception on Friday, April 19 from 5 to 8 pm. Hall creates sumptuous and mysterious images by shooting film that she prints and manipulates digitally, suppressing detail and using blended, understated and somewhat unrealistic color. The addition of stylized color is a change from her previously sepia-dominated palette. The results are wonderfully dreamy and moody interpretations of beautiful watershed settings in the Bluegrass. For the past decade, Hall has been devoted to landscape photography. The Waterscape series was inspired and supported by an EcoArt Grant from Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Department of Environmental Quality. Hall has beautifully fulfilled her aim to depict and promote awareness of local places where water is the main resource, a refuge and a basic source of our health and overall welfare.

    6. First Time Mom’s Hen & Chick’s meeting
      2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

      A free support group for first-time moms and their infants from birth to 6 months. Donna Miles, a certified postpartum doula, will act as facilitator as participants chat, laugh, share and support one another through one of the biggest life-changing events of a woman’s life. Meetings will begin with gentle upper body stretches for those tired “mommy muscles,” followed by some chat time and ending with a fun or relaxing activity.       These classes will  introduce participants to the sound, beat and rhythm of Africa through  the drum. Classes are held every Thursday beginning April 11 and will go until  June 27.       The Ann Tower Gallery is pleased to present fifteen new large-scaled photographs in “Nori Hall: Waterscapes.”  The exhibition will open with a Gallery Hop reception on Friday, April 19 from 5 to 8 pm. Hall creates sumptuous and mysterious images by shooting film that she prints and manipulates digitally, suppressing detail and using blended, understated and somewhat unrealistic color. The addition of stylized color is a change from her previously sepia-dominated palette. The results are wonderfully dreamy and moody interpretations of beautiful watershed settings in the Bluegrass. For the past decade, Hall has been devoted to landscape photography. The Waterscape series was inspired and supported by an EcoArt Grant from Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Department of Environmental Quality. Hall has beautifully fulfilled her aim to depict and promote awareness of local places where water is the main resource, a refuge and a basic source of our health and overall welfare.

    5. Lexington Vintage Dance: Mostly Waltz
      7:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      On the first Friday of each month Lexington Vintage Dance hosts a social dance with live music. Each event includes waltzes plus an occasional polka, tango, one-step, foxtrot, blues and others. There is instruction from 7:00 to 7:45 pm on a selected dance topic, followed by dancing from 8:00 to 10:00.

    4. Big Band & Jazz Series at Moondance Amphitheater

      Big Band & Jazz, one of Lexington’s longest running and most beloved concert series, features great jazz and big band music weekly, on Tuesday evenings. The May and June concerts will be held at the Moondance at Midnight Pass Amphitheatre in Beaumont Circle; July & August concerts will take place at Ecton Park.       The 4th annual Youth Arts Council Exhibition will present the inspiring efforts and creativity of local high school students.  This collaborative exhibition between Lexington’s Youth Arts Council, the Living Arts and Science Center (LASC), and the Central Kentucky Youth Orchestra (CKYO) is based on the “Enigma Variation” by 19th century composer Edward Elgar. Each movement is a musical portrait of one of Elgar’s friends or family members and in the score he labels each one with the initials of the subject or a nickname. The variations are evocative of the character or personality of the individual, a specific interaction or experience they shared, or a specific event in their lives. The most famous movement is “Nimrod” which was written for his best friend. Artists could use any of the four variations posted on youthartscouncil.org as a prompt to create a visual artwork.  Each participant will have at least one artwork on display at the Singletary Center, and a selection of those works will be placed on display at the LASC Gallery for the June 21st Gallery Hop 5-8pm.       Enjoy some fresh air and Lexington history on a downtown walking tour hosted by the Mary Todd Lincoln House. Mrs. Lincoln enjoyed an urban upbringing and brought her husband Abraham back to Lexington to visit her family. The downtown “Mrs. Lincoln’s Lexington” walking tour includes locations relevant to her childhood and Lexington history. The tour will be offered at 2:30PM on the Wednesday afternoons of May 22, May 29, June 5, and June 12. The tour is approximately 1.5 miles. Cost is $10 for the general public and $5 for members.
